Revenge For Marauders At Death Row

Eternal Champions 1
Entropic Marauders 2

Another rare inter franchise meeting and a repeat of last season’s Chaos Cup tie which saw the Eternals triumph at Death Row. The Marauders out for revenge then in one of only two AFC v NFC games to feature in round one. As usual where loyalties are divided we take the home side’s viewpoint.

Early Bloodshed
To the smoky stadium the visitors brought Crayteborlz O’Fyrre, just back from Brettonia, a magic item and dirty trick. They won the toss and received and Nastrodeamus was an early casualty attempting to fell Dead Andy unsuccessfully. Foxy Fitzgerald then stood up to an attack but Sue Felice was also carried off injured by the blitz of Trastermere. Both injuries would regenerate but the Eternals definitely had the early edge.

Marauders Hit Back
Our wolves ran forward to threaten the ball; meanwhile Coryupto injured Lurkazoid in the centre as the Marauders began to get into their stride. Zealous Zeremiah was then clobbered by Fitzgerald and he will miss the next match. Bubonus Vilz felled Euan Hoozarmi and Duodolnic dropped back to mark Trastermere. Infectakor blitzed and brought down Klagachan in a frenzied attack on our left.

A Legend Passes…Into Legend
Fatalian was then felled by Titus B Vulsion back on the right of the scrimmage line and Quentin Quarentino did over Charles in the same area. Rabidicus then crossed the field to foul Klagachan with no result. The wolf tried to dodge out of trouble and was killed by Rabidicus: The top player for the Eternals and indeed the franchise, ignominiously slain by a fellow franchise player.

Eternals Reach Ball
Trastermere was forced away by Fitzgerald, and Rabidicus blitzed the remaining wolf but with less effect. Meanwhile Infectakor collected the ball deep as Charles removed Vulsion from the pitch with a solid KO. Flatz shook off his marker and Trastermere managed to get away too and wrestled down the pestigor with the ball. Hoozarmi did some wrestling of his own but now Dead Andy was carried off, injured by the beast and he also will miss a match.

Marauders Reorganise
Fitzgerald had Slicer Vitebred in trouble, pinned on the left sideline and Flatz was stunned by Rabidicus. Duodolnic was now guarding Trastermere and Infectakor got the ball again as Ripley Beaverot moved back to try and contain our wight. He shoved Ripley away, as did Slicer trying to get out of the danger zone, but it was only a brief respite and Fitzgerald quickly put him down again.

Marauders Dispossessed Again
Duodolnic felled Trastermere and Coryupto got his tentacles around Euan. Vilz wrestled down Hoozarmi now as Infectakor arrived in our half. Rabidicus moved to mark Vengor who was trying to bolster the defence. Trastermere broke away from his two warrior markers and managed to tackle Infectakor, the ball rolling to the sideline after Vengor and Flatz had done their part clearing a path.

Fitzgerald Beats Off Attacks
Rabidicus and Ripley were still active though and closed down defenders whilst Quarentino downed Fatalian, yet another casualty. Coryupto forced away Hoozarmi and Fitzgerald collected the ball. Flatz fell stunned trying to block Foxy against the odds, then Trastermere did the same after the Marauders closed down the options. Fitzgerald ran in.

Final Action Of The Half
Five-two on casualties to the Marauders then, Vulsion remained KO but both Nastrodeamus and Sue returned. Only Lurkazoid regenerated for us. At kick off, Rabidicus and Vengor were both stunned by missiles hurled by the boisterous crowd of fifty thousand. The ball was touched back and the half ended after Handsome Ratbane’s unsuccessful foul on Beaverot and Dolocod Vex’s fumbled pass attempt.

Poor Start For Creoch
MVP Hewlett Pickard who had been brought on briefly, was now substituted with Ex-Talabac Tornado and Death Wish player, Lucas Ayde. The kick for the second period was deep on our left and Vagilex won out in the coaching stakes. Lurkazoid, fit again stunned Nastrodeamus after a double skull start and then Dead Ed and Trastermere failed to do any damage on the Scrimmage line.

Eternals Make Heavy Weather Of It
Vengor deep now failed to collect the ball deep and the Marauders began to advance, Sue blitzing Trastermere down. Charles was pushed back then Vulsion was sent visiting in the crowd by Flatz and knocked out. Handsome fell ambitiously trying to deal with the beast, but Vengor had at least managed to get the ball and move up. Fitzgerald double skulled against Lurkazoid, but like him recovered the situation.

Wizardry Breaks Up Attack
The Marauders closed up but then a tackle on Slicer failed and Trastermere knocked out Sue the Troll Slayer. Dead Ed fouling now knocked out pestigor Infectakor too. But this only unleashed O’ Fyrre and his dreaded fireball. Vengor, Flatz and Ed all fell, Flatz a casualty. Coryupto moved to put his tentacles to use on Vex. Quarentino put down our golem and Nastrodeamus went to try and secure the loose ball with Vilz, who fell going for it.

Eternals Resume Attack
Vengor recovered the ball and Trastermere blitzed down Nastrodeamus. The Eternals were only just holding though: Quentin had knocked out Lucas Ayde and Vex was still tangled in tentacles. Handsome was stunned and our only reasonable course of action was to score, which Vengor duly did.

Eternals Continue To Be Battered
Infectakor and Sue both returned from the KO dugout but Vulsion did not. This brought Aortic Rupcha on for the first time in the match. Flatz had regenerated but Ayde remained KO for the Eternals, forcing Hewlett Pickard’s return for us. The kick was deep to the corner and we defended perfectly, however the beast now scored its third casualty – a serious one on Euan Hoozarmi.

Marauders Have Ball Trouble
Lurkazoid was felled, and then Trastermere as Infectakor broke deep. Rupcha fumbled his pick up attempt but he was well out of range of any possible threat. Duodolnic then felled Pickard and Quarentino stunned Flatz. Rupcha passed to Rabidicus who ran into our half, passing Fitzgerald as he felled Lurkazoid. Nastrodeamus brought down Charles and Vilz moved to pin down our wight. Infectakor was now KO trying to elude Vitebred.

Climax Approaches
Quarentino now blatantly fouled and stunned Flatz on the left but no action resulted from the ref. Pickard was pushed back by Duodolnic and Bubonus did the same to Trastermere. Rabidicus blitzed down and stunned Dead Ed, but the attack looked well closed down after a hand off to Sue led the attack into what seemed a dead end on the right. But then, a double skull from Trastermere as he tried to deliver the coup de grace to the ball carrier.

Marauders Through
Duodolnic brought down Pickard and stunned him. Vex fell to the beast and a dodge past Vitebred, normally reliable in the tackle department resulted in the winner from Sue who had looked well contained only seconds before. The Eternals were out; the Marauders go into the hat for the next round: they’ll meet the Darkside Cowboys in what’s sure to be a great contest with the other league dark elves. Full draw details will appear in issue 216.

Coach Reaction
Creoch was furious about the conduct of fellow franchisees: ‘I can’t believe that they have come here to kill one of our franchise’s great players. There will be a reckoning for today’s work, make no mistake.’

Coach Vagilex was altogether more relaxed. ‘Naturally this is a contact sport and all the players know that when they sign up. This wolf had a great career often carrying what let’s be honest is a mediocre team. He will be remembered by his fans and aficionados of the game as a true great, Creoch should be content in that knowledge.’
